Agapas – God's Love – Unconditional Love

Bible Sharing from Luke 5: Verse 1 to 11

Verse 6-7: Jesus intended to show his dominion in the seas as well as on the dry land to disciples. As recorded in Psalms 8:8, all things are put under man’s feet, including the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas

Verse 8: Peter had hardly met Jesus, but he knew that Jesus was Lord and himself was a sinful man. Like Peter, Paul also identified himself as a sinful man (1 Timothy 1:15). These highlight the humility of apostles. For they never boast except in the cross of Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14).

Verse 10: Peter and his companions were simple fishermen, yet Jesus called ordinary people like them to discipleship and mission (1 Corinthians 1:27). In the old testament, God mostly called the imperfect humans for his work and then worked on shaping them into faithful servants (Exodus 3:10-12; Isaiah 6:1-6; Jeremiah 1:6-8).

Verse 11: After Peter and team had brought their boats to land, instead of going behind their fish, they forsook all and followed Jesus. For they knew that Jesus had the words of eternal life (John 6:68).
