Agapas – God's Love – Unconditional Love

Bible Sharing from Luke 4: Verse 31 to 44

Verse 31-32: All authority in heaven and on earth is given to Jesus (Matthew 28:18, 9:6, Philippians 2:10, Romans 14:11). The listeners of Jesus were able to feel the authority in His speech ( Mark 1:22)

Verse 33-35: The demon refers to Jesus as “the Holy One of God ”, for they knew who God really is (James 2:19, Matthew 4:3). Jesus ordered the demoniac to be silent and not to proclaim Him as Christ. Because, the people of Israel were expecting Christ to be a king (John 6:14-15) who would redeem them from Roman invasion.

Verse 36: Jesus did not plead to the demon or make long prayers for deliverance (Matthew 8:32), rather He commanded the evil spirit on His authority and it was compelled to obey.

Verse 39-40: Jesus was asked to help Simon Peter’s mother-in-law (Mark 3:16; John 1:42) and He healed her. Not just her, He healed every person in that setting (Matthew 12:15). The Lord healed every kind of disease (Matthew 9:35; Mark 1:34) and people were healed as they touched or met with Christ amidst the crowd (Mark 6:56; Matthew 14:36; Luke 7:21). For power came out from Jesus and healed all of them (Luke 6:19)

Verse 43-44:  Mission of Jesus was to fulfill the will of God (John 5:36), which meant visiting other towns and other people (Luke 19:10,Matthew 4:17). For God’s plan of salvation includes gentiles as well (Acts 13:47, Romans 3:29-30,11:30).
