Verse 1-7 : Emperor Augustus was a tool in God’s hand. Because God had promised that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). As Joseph had ancestral links to David, He had to go to city of David (1 Samuel 17:12) for registration, which fulfilled the prophecy concerning Lords birth in Bethlehem
All those authorities that exist have been instituted by God (Romans 13:1-7), so both Joseph and Mary followed the instructions from authority. Similar to them, Jesus also during his public ministry, followed the rules set by the authority. He insisted Peter to pay the temple tax (Matthew 17:26-27)
Verse 11: The first preacher of the gospel was an angel and God chose to announce the birth of the Savior (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6–7) to common men and to the most normal people of the world to do the proclamation of the gospel (1 Corinthians 1:26–29)
Verse 14: Gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of reconciliation, peace and hope (Colossians 1:20,22, John 3:16–17). The peace is only accessible to those who believe in Jesus (John 3:18,36) and to those who obey and continue in his Word (James 1:22, John 8:31-32 )
